OUR
MISSION STATEMENT

Riverside Academy exists to provide a personalized, Christ-centered learning environment where scholars are known, valued, and encouraged to grow academically, personally, and spiritually.

Through individualized instruction, small-group learning, meaningful relationships, and learner-driven experiences, we strive to nurture curiosity, critical thinking, strong character, and a lifelong love of learning while preparing scholars to confidently navigate the world around them.

OUR
VISION STATEMENT

Riverside Academy strives to cultivate a Christ-centered learning community where scholars are encouraged to grow in faith, character, confidence, and academic ability while discovering their unique gifts and purpose.

Through meaningful relationships, personalized learning, and a supportive community, we aim to inspire lifelong learners who think critically, lead with integrity, serve others with compassion, and confidently pursue the path God has created for them.

OUR
STATEMENT OF FAITH

At Riverside Academy, we believe that every child is uniquely created with purpose, value, and God-given potential.

We believe in one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and rose again so that we may have eternal life through Him.

We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God and serves as our foundation for truth, wisdom, and guidance.

We believe that Christian education should nurture not only academic growth, but also character, integrity, compassion, responsibility, and a heart for serving others.

We believe children learn best in an environment where they are known, loved, encouraged, and challenged to grow into the individuals God created them to be.

At Riverside, faith is woven into the culture of our school through prayer, scripture, worship, biblical values, and daily interactions. While academic excellence remains a priority, we believe true education also develops the heart, mind, and spirit.

We strive to create a Christ-centered learning community where students are encouraged to:

  • Love God and love others

  • Pursue truth with courage and wisdom

  • Lead with kindness and integrity

  • Serve their community faithfully

  • Grow in both knowledge and character

Our desire is to partner with families in raising children who are confident, compassionate, resilient, and grounded in faith.

In addition to strong academics, faith will be woven naturally throughout the school day through experiences such as:

  • Daily prayer and devotionals

  • Scripture and Biblical teaching

  • Worship music

  • Character education rooted in Christian values

  • Opportunities for leadership, service, and community involvement

  • Encouragement to grow in kindness, perseverance, responsibility, integrity, and compassion

Our Microschool Story...

tribe.jpg

After spending 12 years in the traditional classroom, I found myself at a crossroads.

I still loved teaching. I loved my students. I loved watching children learn and grow. But somewhere along the way, I felt like education had begun to lose sight of what mattered most. Curiosity was slowly being replaced by compliance. Creativity was being pushed aside by testing. And I watched incredible children begin to believe they weren't smart simply because they didn't fit into a system that expected everyone to learn the same way.

Then I became a mom.

Like every parent, I started thinking about the kind of education I wanted for my own daughter. I wanted more than good grades. I wanted her to be known. I wanted her to spend time outside exploring. I wanted her to build relationships with children of all ages. I wanted her to move ahead when she was ready, receive support when she needed it, and wake up excited to go to school each morning.

Riverside started as a dream for my daughter and I—a quiet little "What if?"

What if school looked different?

What if we built a place where children were taught at their ability level instead of simply by their age? What if relationships mattered just as much as academics? What if we focused on raising confident, curious, kind human beings instead of simply preparing students for the next test?

That little "what if" eventually became Riverside Academy.

Today, one of my favorite things to say is that I get to spend my days teaching children in a way that I was starting to lose hope even existed anymore.

That's why I started a microschool.

Not because I thought I had all the answers, but because I believed families deserved another choice. A place where children are truly seen. Where they aren't defined by a test score. Where learning is individualized. Where curiosity is protected. Where relationships come first. And where kids are allowed to be kids.

Looking back, I can see God's hand in every part of this journey. There have been too many perfectly timed conversations, too many doors opened, and too many answered prayers for me to believe any of this happened by chance.

Riverside may have started as a dream for my daughter and me, but it has become so much bigger than us. It has become a community of families who simply believe what I believe—that school can look different, and that every child deserves to experience the joy of learning.
